Your National Park Partners

Which idea is behind the project National Park Partners?

The project Bavarian Forest National Park Partners was launched by the National Park Authority together with the experts in tourism of the districts of Freyung-Grafenau and Regen, the Association of National Park Communes and the Advertising Association Zwieseler Winkel in autumn of 2005. The project is destined to reliably provide guests of the National Park region with qualitative and environmental standards in their accomodation and, at the same time, give comprehensive information about the National Park and convey its philosophy on nature protection. The National Park Authority actively supports the partner companies with marketing and further training activities. The participants expect that their co-operation in natural protection and tourism economy result in an all-embracing regional commercialisation and in a higher level of acceptance of the National Park.

What are the prerequisites to become a National Park Partner?

Up to now, the co-operation has primarily addressed to accomodation facilities of at least 8 beds. However, it is planned to extend the project onto smaller companies and other business lines, too. The actual conditions for the realization are being worked out at the moment.

In accordance with the current status, the following criteria have to be met by accomodation facilities to join the National Park Partners:

•Size of company at least 8 beds.
•Certification in accordance with DEHOGA standard at least 3 stars.
•Identification with the National Park philosophy as well as
•its promotion providing the guests informative material on the National Park, organising and communicating touristic offers in the National Park (like guided tours, events, etc).
•Realisation respectively encouragement of environmentally friendly measurements. These are, among others, the participation in the DEHOGA Saving Energy Campaign for the hotel and restaurant industry and the selling of Bayerwald and Igel Bus Tickets.
•Gastronomic offer in favour of regional products.
•Participating in a biannual information or training activity organised by the National Park Authority.

These activities are used to inform the Partner Companies about up-to-date principal topics, such as nature protection or ecology, as well as about current proposals of the National Park for its visitors.
