Getting to the National Park Centre at Falkenstein

By bus and by train

Here we recommend an environmentally friendly journey by bus and train. Although there are only a limited number of parking spaces (charges apply), there are good public transport links; indeed the centre has its own train stop. RBO buses (6197/6121) and the Falkenstein bus go to Ludwigsthal and the stop “Haus zur Wildnis" on the B11 road. They also connect to the hiking destinations of Zwieslerwaldhaus and Buchenau. The Waldbahn train runs hourly to Ludwigsthal station, right by the animal enclosure. You can alight from the train here and straightaway you are on the hiking trail, which leads through the animal enclosure to the Stone Age cave, wild horses, aurochs, wolf and lynx, and up to the wilderness centre at the Haus zur Wildnis.

Travelling by public transport is good for three reasons. You save car parking charges, you can take advantage of interesting guided visits at half price, and you make an active contribution to environmental protection.

The train journey to the national park centre in Falkenstein has been programmed into the travel information. Follow the link “Die Reiseauskunft der Bahn – von Haus zu Haus" under “Further Information" at the end of this page.
