The Information Point in Frauenau is located in the recently opened Glass Museum. In addition to the unique presentation of glass and the village’s tourism office there is a permanent exhibition with its own dedicated room devoted to the theme of Schachten (pastures) and Filze (mires) that are typical of the Bavarian Forest.

Exhibits, texts and films about the history of the forest pastures, the fauna and flora of the area as well as information on how peat bogs came into existence offer the visitor a whole host of interesting information.

It becomes scary though when a swamp-residing “Marsh Demon" tells the story of the dervishes in the Rachel mire.

An interactive model of the territory reveals a great deal of interesting information on the Bavarian Forest and its national park.
